When you shave, your face can quickly become irritated by the scraping of the razor against your skin. One solution is to apply an aftershave product. Instead of using a commercial aftershave, you can create your own solution from natural ingredients that will soothe the skin.

Things you need
- 1/3 cup witch hazel
- 1/2 cup water
- 4 drops lavender essential oil
- 2 drops lemonbalm essential oil
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 473ml. glass bottle
Pour 1/3 cup of witch hazel into a bowl. Witch hazel is an astringent that is helpful in killing bacteria on the skin. Witch hazel is a skin soothing alternative to alcohol, which can dry out the skin and is commonly used in commercial aftershaves.
Add 1/2-cup of water. Mix well. Water will dilute the witch hazel sufficiently, so it can be used daily on the skin.
Drop in 4 drops of lavender essential oil and 2 drops of lemonbalm essential oil. Mix well. Lavender and lemonbalm oils are helpful in healing broken skin and in soothing skin irritation. You can use these oils directly on irritated skin, if they are properly diluted in a solvent, such as water or witch hazel. Using the oils on your skin full-strength is not recommended.
Pour in 1 tbsp of olive oil. Mix well. Olive oil is a natural skin moisturiser that will leave the skin properly hydrated after shaving. Olive oil is a non-comedogenic oil, meaning it will not clog the pores when applied to the skin. Olive oil has been commonly used around the world for hundreds of years as a skin cleaning substance in place of soap. Adding olive oil to your aftershave solution will ensure that your skin will remain clear and soft after shaving.
Place a funnel over the top of a 473ml. glass bottle.
Pour the contents of the bowl into the bottle, and store in a refrigerator until use.
