Many people have a few shoe boxes full of old 35mm slides tucked away in the attic or the garage. Pulling out a slide projector and screen to view these slides is a hassle, but they can be easily converted to digital format using your Epson Perfection 1260 scanner with a 35mm slide adaptor. Scanning your slides will allow you to view all of your memories quickly and easily with a few clicks of your computer mouse
Plug the 35mm film/slide adaptor into appropriate socket at the back of the scanner. Plug the scanner into a power source and connect it to your computer with the provided USB cable. Turn the scanner on.
Open the scanner's lid. Wipe the scanning surface gently with a microfiber cloth. Also wipe the underside of the film/slide adaptor with the cloth.
Position the slide holder plate in the upper-right corner of the scanning surface. Place a slide into the notch of the holder, ensuring that it fits correctly.
Fit the adaptor over the slide in the slide holder plate. Ensure that it covers the slide completely.
Press the "Scan" button. A prompt will offer you a variety of scanning options including file save destination, image resolution and type of media being scanned. Select "35mm Slide Positive" from the menu. Choose the resolution you wish to scan in dots per inch or DPI and where you wish the image files to be saved.
Click "Scan." Once scanning has finished, view your files by visiting the save destination folder.
You may wish to clean your slides before scanning for best results. Use a soft artist's brush or short bursts of compressed air to remove any dust particles. It is not necessary to close the lid before scanning. The film/slide adaptor that is placed over the slide holder serves this function.
