How to Make Worry Stones

Updated February 21, 2017

Worry stones are small, smooth rocks that you can carry in your purse or pocket. They have been around for centuries and are believed to have come from Greece during ancient times. People that tend to worry or have anxiety may find it soothing to rub the small stones to offer some relaxation. Personalise worry stones as gifts for friends or loved ones, or make a bag of stones for a special gift.

Roll out the clay and shape it the way you'd like your stone to look. Ideally, the stones should fit perfectly between your thumb and forefinger. An oval or round shape would work.

Stamp a word or letter on each stone. Some ideas are "Love," "Hope," "Happy," "Peace" or "Breathe," or you can stamp your friend's name or initials into the clay. Designs such as hearts or birds would work as well.

Bake the clay for the time and temperature given in the instructions on the clay package.

Paint a clear varnish on each stone using a paintbrush, completely covering the stone. Allow it to dry.
