The Acer Aspire One series of netbooks offers more portability than standard laptops by utilising a relatively small display and forgoing an internal optical drive. 3G versions of the Aspire One take portability to a new level by complementing Wi-Fi with the option to connect to the Internet anywhere within a wireless service provider's coverage area. The Aspire One will be unable to access the cellular data network without a SIM card inserted into a slot located behind the battery.
