VCard is the term used for an electronic business card. This type of file is what all cellular devices use to store contact information for those who are in the phonebook. With the vCard format, users of Windows Mobile devices can export the vCard file to a computer using either ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center. This helps users to keep a backup of important contact information in case the device is damaged or lost.

Connect the Windows Mobile device to the computer and ensure Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows Vista and 7) or ActiveSync (Windows XP) is running. When the phone is connected successfully, the sync software will automatically run; if the software is not on the computer, a free download for either program is available through the Windows Mobile website (see Resources).
Place a check next to "Contacts" on the sync page on the computer.
Press "Sync." The vCard is exported to the computer. When the computer screen says "Synchronized," the process is complete and it is OK to disconnect the device.
