XSD files are Extensible Markup Language (XML) schemas that help define a regular XML document, according to w3cschools.com. XSD files are also known as Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) taxonomies, and serve the same purpose for the XML-based XBRL language, according to xbrl.org. Web Services Description Language (WSDL) files are also XML documents, and they are used to describe Web services. You can generate a Wsdl file from an Xsd with Altova XMLSpy, Editix Lite and XML Copy Editor.
