In order to work effectively, a car's convertible top should fit snugly over the windshield. A loose convertible top can cause a large amount of interior noise when wind rushes over the top during high speeds. Convertible tops are also prone to developing leaks or becoming damaged if not properly adjusted. Properly adjusting a Mazda Miata convertible top is an easy task that can be completed in just a few minutes. The only tool needed is a screwdriver.
Lower the Miata's convertible top and locate the convertible's top latch. This latch is at the front of the convertible top frame. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the three screws securing the latch to the top frame.
Lift the locking clip to expose the latch adjustment screw. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to loosen it and turn the screw counterclockwise to tighten it. Adjust the screw as desired.
Lower the locking clip over the adjustment screw. Reattach the latch to the convertible top frame with the three screws. Tighten the screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
