SIP ALG, or session initiation protocol application level gateway, is a feature included on some Netgear routers. SIP ALG optimises Internet voice traffic that uses the SIP protocol. According to Netgear, this feature can cause issues with the network traffic of other applications, so if you aren't making SIP voice calls, it could be helpful to disable this feature. Disable SIP ALG from the Netgear router's Web configuration interface.
