How to manually install tomtom maps

Updated March 23, 2017

TomTom GPS devices can be updated in several ways. Users can manually enter specific changes right from their devices, and updates automatically take place when the TomTom is connected to a computer. Maps can also be selected manually from the TomTom store -- if users are travelling to other countries, maps of their destinations can be installed in just a few minutes.

Attach your TomTom to a computer with Internet access and go to the TomTom website.

Select "Maps" from the upper toolbar, and make sure the country in the bottom right corner of the screen is set to United States.

Choose "Shop for a Map."

Click the "Buy Now" option beneath the "Single Map Download" icon. Browse the available maps and select the one you want to buy for your device. Provide payment information to complete the purchase.

Click "Update my Device" from the TomTom Home screen and check the box next to the map you just purchased.

Click "Update and Install" from the bottom of the screen.

Click "Done" when the map finishes uploading, and press the eject button to safely remove your TomTom from your computer.
