If you want to find out what telephone number you are calling from, one way to do this is by using the Automatic Number Announcement Circuit (ANAC) hotline to find out. When you call the ANAC hotline, an automated operator will answer, read the number you are calling from twice, and then hang up the call. This service doesn't work for all types of telephone lines, such as Voice Over IP (VOIP) service.
Dial "800-444-0800," and you will hear an automated operator give you the number you are calling from. If this number doesn't work in your area, other numbers to call would be 800-444-2222, 800-444-3333, 800-444-4444 and 800-444-5555.
Write down the number on a piece of paper.
Hang up your phone.
