Baby shower dirty diaper game directions

Updated April 17, 2017

There are two common ways to play the dirty diaper baby shower game. You can make tiny diapers from cloth or paper triangles to pin on each guest, or put a mystery mess in several disposable diapers to pass around at the party. Include a baby shower dirty diaper game at your next baby shower. Choose the interactive, competitive version to have guests smelling diapers to guess what is inside, or opt for the simpler version to determine the door prize winner.

Write a number with a marker on the front of each disposable diaper, one through eight. Unfold the diapers and lay them out on a flat surface.

Open the candy bars. Break a small piece of candy from each bar and place it in the centre of a diaper. List the diaper number and type of candy on a piece of paper.

Microwave each diaper for 10 to 20 seconds or until the candy melts. Pinch each diaper closed to smear the melted candy inside the diaper. Reopen the diapers and lay them aside to let the candy cool and harden.

Give each guest a piece of paper and a pen or pencil. Ask your guests to number their papers one through eight. Explain that they are to determine by sight, smell and/or taste what is in each diaper, and write their answers on the paper.

Pass the diapers around. Allow ample time for all guests to inspect all of the diapers and record their answers.

Announce the candy bars by number at the end of the game and have your guests circle their correct answers. Award a prize to the guest with the most right answers.

Cut cloth or paper into 4-inch squares. Cut the squares in half diagonally to create triangles. Mark a dot in the centre of one triangle to make the dirty diaper.

Fold each triangle with the three points overlapping. Place a small safety pin through the points to hold the diaper together.

Pin a diaper on each guest at the beginning of the shower. Write the guest's name on the diaper to use as a name tag, if desired.

Have all guests check their diaper during the shower to determine the winner. Award a door prize to the guest with the dirty diaper.

Give a jumbo-sized chocolate bar as the winning prize. Substitute different kinds of baby food or condiments for the melted candy and dry the diaper contents with a blow dryer.
