How to Send a Fax From a Mobile Phone

Written by palmer owyoung | 13/05/2017

Faxes are analogue documents that have been converted into digital files and then transmitted over a phone line. It used to be that you required two dedicated machines with phone lines to send a fax. However, today you can use your web-enabled cell phone, a faxing service and your phone's camera to accomplish the exact same thing. This way you can send or receive a fax just about anywhere in the world that your phone can get a signal.

Register with a third-party online-fax service. A few services that you can consider are MyFax, MetroFax and PopFax, which charge a monthly fee that ranging from £3 to £8.40.

Go to "Menu" on your phone, select "Pictures and Videos" and the camera of your phone will be activated. Take a photo of the document that you wish to send. Make sure that it is lying on a flat surface and that you fill the camera's view finder with the whole image. Save the image to a folder.

Go to the "Menu" on your phone and go to "Applications" and open up the scanner application that you have installed. Under the image gallery, find the photo that you wish to convert to a PDF and select it. Click on "Convert File" and the photo will be converted into an easy to read scan.

Open your e-mail account. From your phone "Menu," go to "Messaging" and select "Email." Create an e-mail and click on "Attach files." Select the photo or the converted scan that you created earlier and select "Attach." On the "To" field, enter recipient's fax number and the email address given to you by your fax service and press "Send." Your document will be sent to your recipient's fax machine.
