AVG is a popular free antivirus application that is available for download on the Internet. Occasionally--perhaps because of a damaged installation or a hardier-than-average virus--you may find yourself needing to reset the permissions used by AVG so that it can continue to function properly. Fortunately, the team behind AVG has produced a small application designed to do exactly that.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Download the AVG Free access reset program from the link in the "Resources" section.

  2. 2

Launch the install file once it has finished downloading. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the application onto your hard drive.

  3. 3

Open "My Computer" and browse to where you installed the program in step two.

  4. 4

Launch the "Reset Access" .BAT file. This will reset all the permissions that pertain to your AVG program. If prompted, reboot your computer.
