Choose an area of the garage with several feet of open space for manoeuvring during workouts. Use a ladder to reach the ceiling and choose a sturdy beam to hang the bag. A beam is best able to withstand the force generated by the swinging punchbag. Drill a hole for the eye bolt using the 1/2-inch drill bit. Anchor the bolt in the drilled hole.
Place a swivel link on the eye bolt. This will allow the bag to turn and rotate freely during workouts, preventing the chains from becoming stressed and snapping.
Attach the punchbag chains to the top of the bag according to the manufacturer's instructions, if the chains were not already attached. Most punching bags come with four chains and a central chain that is attached to the ceiling.

Work with a partner to lift the punchbag chain up to the S-hook. Ensure that the chain is short enough to allow the bag to hang off the floor according to the manufacturer's instructions. Hang the punchbag at a height suitable for your own height and workout preferences.
