Philips GoGear portable audio- and video-playing devices are small and offer an easy-to-use alternative to other expensive or complex MP3 players. Although there are a number of GoGear products, including the ViBE, the Muse, the Cam, the Ariaz and the RaGa, they all have the same basic set-up instructions. The only differences are the sizes of the screens, the storage space and the location of the controls on the device; some are touch screen, and some aren't.

Charge your Philips GoGear device by plugging it into your computer with the short USB adaptor cord that came with it. Turn on your computer and allow three hours for the MP3 player to fully charge. Safely eject the MP3 player after the charging completes.
Insert the CD-ROM that came with your GoGear into your disc drive and follow the on-screen prompts to install the software on your computer. The software on this disc includes a Philips Device Manager for updates for your GoGear, Media Converter for Philips to help you convert and transfer playable MP3 files to your device, and Rhapsody Media Player.
Note that you must have a Windows operating system for the software to work on your computer. If you have a Mac, you can still easily transfer MP3 files over to your GoGear device, but you will not have the software to aid you in doing so.
Restart your computer once the installation completes.
Convert your music and video files to MP3 before you transfer them to your GoGear device. Other personal audio and video players may use different file formats, but GoGear only recognises MP3 files.
If you operate on a Windows PC, open the Media Converter for Philips you installed in Step 2 help you convert your files.
If you use a Mac, open iTunes and select the files you want to convert. Click on "Advanced" in the top menu bar, then click on "Create MP3 Version." Wait for the files to convert before moving them to your GoGear device's storage.
Add and organise MP3 files on your GoGear device. Connect your MP3 player to your computer with the USB cord, and open the storage section of the device through My Computer on Windows or through Finder on a Mac. Create folders for musical artists or playlists, depending on how you want to sort your files. Drag and drop MP3 files from where they're stored on your computer onto your GoGear.
If the files are already sorted in the folders you want to use on your GoGear, drag and drop the entire folder to save time.
Disconnect your GoGear player once all the MP3 files have successfully transferred. Use the arrow keys on your GoGear to select the folder and the song or video you wish to play. Press the play/pause button to begin playing the video. Click on the curved arrow key to go back to a previous menu to select a different song or a different folder.
