While holding your iPhone is the default way for placing and answering calls the device has a Bluetooth feature that provides hands-free chatting. A third-party Bluetooth device connects to the phone and, depending on the available buttons, can be used to answer phone calls rather than touching the iPhone's screen. Check your Bluetooth device's manual to determine compatibility with the iPhone, as some Bluetooth devices may not work.

    Click "Settings" and "General" to view the iPhone's settings screen.

    Power on your Bluetooth headset and click "Bluetooth" on your iPhone's screen.

    Click the switch on the iPhone's "Bluetooth" bar to activate the Bluetooth scanner. The iPhone will scan for Bluetooth-enabled devices and will show all available devices in the menu.

    Tap the name of your headset in the devices list and enter the passkey located in your Bluetooth's user manual into the iPhone's passcode prompt.

    The Bluetooth icon will appear at the top of the iPhone's screen when it successfully pairs with your Bluetooth headset.
