Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter (FPS) with a military theme, set in the present. It was released across several platforms, including the PC, and is one of the best selling games of all time. Although Call of Duty 4 supports keyboard and mouse controls, it can also be played with a control pad such as the Logitech Dual Action Gamepad, a USB device that closely resembles a PlayStation 3 controller in shape and button layout.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Install the Logitech Gaming Software from the disc that was included with the Logitech Dual Action Gamepad. If you do not have the disc that was included with the gamepad, it can be downloaded from the Logitech download site (see the Resource section).

  2. 2

Run the Logitech Gaming Software by double-clicking on the program shortcut on your computer. This shortcut is typically located either on the desktop or under the Logitech folder in the Start menu.

  3. 3

Select "Profiles" from the menu on top of the Logitech Gaming Software and choose "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" from the menu that appears. This will load a preset configuration for your gamepad that is specifically designed for Call of Duty 4. If you wish to use this configuration, simply minimise the Logitech Gaming Software window and launch the Call of Duty 4 game as your normally would. If you wish to modify the default button configuration for Call of Duty 4, proceed to Step 4.

  4. 4

Customise the button configuration for your Logitech Dual Action Gamepad by clicking on the buttons shown on the graphic display in the Logitech Gaming Software window. Clicking on a button will allow you to modify the button's action within Call of Duty 4. Once you have customised the controls to your satisfaction, click on the "Profiles" tab at the top of the screen and select "Save Profile." You are now ready to play Call of Duty 4 using your custom control layout.
