As a creative and eco-friendly touch, decorate your home with old vinyl records and album covers. Dust off your records and put them to good use as wall hangings and other decor pieces. You can also use vintage records to enhance a music-themed birthday bash, anniversary soirée or wedding or bridal shower. Choose records featuring vibrantly hued labels with interesting design details. If you don't own any vintage records, scour flea markets and thrift shops to find as many as you need.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Decorate a plain wood coffee table with record album covers. Show off your favourite artists from the past by placing the album covers all over the surface of the table. Place a cut-to-fit piece of glass or Plexi-glass over the album covers to create a smooth surface.

  2. 2

Create a bed headboard using vintage records or album covers. Hang the records or covers over the bed in a square formation using nails and a hammer. Alternate the records and covers for a creative look.

  3. 3

Enhance an empty wall shelf with brightly coloured album covers. Place wooden or metal stands on the shelf and set an album cover in each one. Create a specific theme using all children's, rock, heavy metal, pop or folk music covers.

  4. 4

Use vintage records as plate chargers for holiday or themed parties. Place Christmas records under holiday guest's plates. Set 1950s doo-wop records under guests' plates when hosting a soda shop-themed birthday bash.
