Canon is a company that manufactures electronic devices, such as cameras and printers. They participate in a recycling program, where any of their electronic devices can be shipped to their recycling department for recycling. In order to participate, you must have the product serial number and pay the Canon recycling fee. The recycling fee includes your shipping cost.

Navigate to the Canon Recycling Program website.
Select "Printers & All-In-Ones" under the "Select Your Canon Product" section. From that menu, select the type of printer you own and the model number.
Input the serial number into the "Enter Your Product Serial Number" box. The serial number is usually located on a sticker, placed on the inside of the front panel door, behind the ink cartridge, or underneath the scanner cover.
Press the red "Add To Cart" button.
Enter your name, billing address, e-mail address and credit card information to pay for the recycling fee. Input your correct e-mail address, as this is where the recycling label is sent.
Place the printer into the original box or a box that snugly fits and hold the printer. Tape the box shut.
Navigate to your e-mail inbox. Print the shipping/recycling label that was e-mailed to you by Canon. Tape the label on the box. The shipping cost has already been paid.
