The Avaya 6408D series telephone is an older digital voice terminal with a two-way speaker phone. It also has a digital display for caller identification. Feature buttons are programmed on the station to enhance the productivity of the user. User permissions and call coverage are also programmed on the station form. Programming the phone requires access to Avaya Site Administration software along with a PC connected to the corporate network with a valid user name and password. Follow these simple steps to program an Avaya 6408D phone set.

Launch the Avaya Site Administration application software.
Select the system you want to connect to at the upper right portion of the screen. Enter your user name and password. Click the "System" tab and select "General," then Start GEDI. Wait for the software to connect to the Avaya phone system server.
Click the down arrow in the upper left action bar and click on "list extension-type" or just type "list extension" and press enter. Locate an unused extension number in the system and make a note of it.
Type "list configuration all" and press enter. Look for an unused port on the right side of the screen you want to assign the station to. Make a note of it.
Type "add station" and then the extension you selected in the action bar and press enter. Click on the "Type" box and enter "6408D+." Click on the "Port" box and enter in the port you found. Click on the "Name" box and enter the person's name with last name first, followed by a comma and then the first name. This will allow users to use the directory feature to search for the person by last name.
Click on the "Coverage Path 1" box and enter the call coverage number you want for the set. Use the command "list coverage path" to find available coverage paths programmed in the system if you are unsure of which coverage path to use.
Click on the "COR" and "COS" boxes and enter in the class of restrictions and class of services permissions you want to assign for this station. Find the available permissions, by typing "list cor" and "display cos" in the action box. Use "display cor" to find specifics about each one.
Click on the one through four screen tabs at the upper left portion of your screen and change any other parameters from default you want. Go to screen four and click on the "4" button. Right click and select the feature you want to assign to that button. Repeat the process for feature buttons "4" through "8" on this screen and "1" through "12" on screen five.
Click the "Enter" button to save the changes. To make modifications, type "change station" and the extension number and press "Enter." Log off the system.
