How do I Connect a Canon IXUS 70 to a PC?

Updated February 21, 2017

The Canon IXUS 70 is a digital camera released in Europe (although it is possible to obtain it and use it in the United States). Like most digital cameras, the IXUS stores the images on a memory card inserted into the camera. But it is possible to download the images directly to a computer through the provided USB data cable. This entire process takes only a few minutes.

Insert the USB data cable into a USB port on the Canon IXUS. Plug the opposite end of the cable into one of the USB ports on your computer.

Power on the digital camera and set it to "View" mode. In a moment, the computer will indicate that it has detected a newly connected digital camera.

Click the "Start" button on the desktop, then choose "(My) Computer" and double-click the digital camera icon. A window appears on the desktop with all of the images stored on the Canon IXUS 70.

Click-and-drag the digital image files from the open window onto the desktop, or any other location on the computer you choose.
