The Scientific Atlanta 8300 HDC is a high-definition receiver that comes with a built-in DVR (digital video recorder). This allows you to record programming onto its built-in hard drive in order to save television shows you want to view later. The Scientific Atlanta 8300 HDC does come with a provided remote control, and you can even program additional hardware into the remote (such as a TV or Blu-ray player). However, if you want to program a new device into the remote you need to reset its currently saved settings.
