Of all the big cats, the lion is considered the king. In size, it is second only to the tiger. The face of the lion, particularly the adult male with its majestic mane, is one of the most widely recognised animal symbols in human culture. A lion can be ferocious, cuddly or funny. It can be a child’s toy, a cartoon or a costume but we all know a lion when we see him.
