According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, there were more than 90,000 trampoline-related emergency room visits in 2001. When used improperly, the chance for injury on a trampoline increases. Make your trampoline safer by covering the springs, hooks and frame with a trampoline pad. When installing the pad, stand on the ground around the perimeter of the trampoline. Jumping on the trampoline should be off-limits during installation.
Lay out the trampoline pad across the edges of the trampoline. The black spring loops should be facing down, underneath the pad. Align the trampoline pad so the black spring loops and grommet holes sit over the trampoline's legs.
Locate the trampoline spring connected to the trampoline leg. Pull the spring toward you and lift up to unhook it from the trampoline frame. Slip the loose end of the spring through the spring hoop hanging from the underside of the trampoline pad. Hook the spring back into place on the trampoline frame.
Insert the looped end of a pad bungee supplied with the trampoline pad through one of the metal grommets next to the spring loop. Thread the T-shaped end of the pad bungee through the other grommet. Each bungee end should be poking out from the bottom of the trampoline pad.
Grasp the looped end of the pad bungee and wrap it around the top of the trampoline leg. Wrap Insert the T-shaped end through the loop to secure the pad bungee around the trampoline leg.
Walk around the perimeter of the trampoline and connect all spring loops and pad bungees. When finished, the trampoline pad will be secure.
Use safety netting around your trampoline as well to increase safety for trampoline users.
