IGES is a 2-D or 3-D image layout used by many image editing programs such as AutoCAD. However, you are going to be hard pressed to find many other programs that accept the IGES format. Due to this, it is wise to save the file as a PDF. Most word processors accept the PDF format (although you are not able to edit the document) and Adobe even has a free-to-download PDF software, giving anyone with an internet connection the ability to view the IGES file.
