The Sony NWZ-A816 is in family of Sony Walkman portable audio players. The device has 4 GBs of storage, which allows plenty of room to store potentially thousands of songs. Sony MP3 players don't require any special software to transfer audio to the device. All downloading to the player can be accomplished using Windows Explorer. Playlists can also be created for the player utilising Windows Explorer.

Right click in an empty space on your desktop. Select "New" and then "Folder" from the drop-down menu. Click inside the name field underneath the new folder and use your "Del" key to erase the name "New Folder." Then type in your new name. This name will become the name of your playlist (e.g., Rap music). The songs that you save to this folder will be downloaded to your Walkman and listed on this playlist.
Add songs on your computer to the new folder (e.g., Rap music). To add songs to the folder, use your mouse to drag songs on your computer, and then drop them into the new folder.
Connect your Sony Walkman NWZ-A816 to the computer using the USB sync cable.
Click on the "start" button on your desktop. Then select "My Computer" from the start menu. In My Computer you will see many drives including a C and D drive. There will be an additional drive, or icon, that represents your Sony Walkman NWZ-A816. Double-click on that icon to open it. Once open you will see several folders representing the different types of media that may be downloaded to your Walkman such as MUSIC, VIDEO, and PICTURE.
Find the "MUSIC" folder inside your Walkman and double-click on it. This is where all music on your Walkman to saved to.
Drag the new folder you created on your desktop with your mouse, and drop it into the "MUSIC" folder in your Walkman. Alternatively, you may right-click on that new folder and select "Copy." Then you can right-click in an empty space within the "MUSIC" folder. Then select "Paste" from the drop-down menu. The folder and its contents will now be downloaded to your Walkman. That new folder name will now become your playlist, and its contents will become the songs listed on that playlist (e.g. the "Rap music" playlist).
