  1. 1

Read the cleaning instructions on the tag of the mesh running shoes. Most are machine washable.

  2. 2

Remove laces and place both the shoes and laces in the washing machine.

  3. 3

Set the machine to wash a small load in cold water.

  4. 4

Pour 2 tablespoons of laundry detergent, one-half cup of vinegar and one-fourth cup of baking soda into the washing machine. The detergent cleans, the baking soda deodorises and the vinegar disinfects.

  5. 5

When the machine stops, remove the shoes and laces. Allow both to air dry before reinserting laces.

Tips and warnings

  • Quickly hand-clean your shoes by dusting them with baking soda and allowing the soda to work overnight. This collects moisture and removes odour. Disinfect by spraying the shoes with a 50/50 solution of water and vinegar. Wipe off mud with a damp cleaning rag.
