Plug your webcam into your computer, making sure it is turned on and the USB cable is properly inserted.
Go to the Control Panel in your Start menu and find the Device Manager menu and make sure your webcam is listed. If it is not listed, it means it hasn't been installed properly.
On the Device Manager menu, right-click on the video option and choose "Update Driver Software."
Go back to the Control Panel menu and click on "Add or Remove programs" and remove the software associated with the webcam. Reinstall the software and webcam from scratch.
