In the base Sims 2 game, only adults and elders can experience the joys of marriage. The Sims 2: University adds a new age group--young adults--but unfortunately adults and elders are still the only groups eligible for marriage. Young adults can, however, get engaged and then celebrate their marriage as soon as they graduate from their university and move onto the adult stage of life. You'll find convincing another Sim to marry yours is a lot easier than in real life: all it takes is a few good jokes, some chit-chat and maybe a compliment or back-rub for good measure.

Find your Sim's dream spouse. You can meet new Sims by going to the common areas on your university's campus, such as kitchen areas or recreation facilities, or by visiting community lots in your town (shops, parks, pools, etc).
Click on the Sim and choose "Greet Sim" to introduce your Sim to the new Sim (note that "Sim" will be replaced with the Sim's actual name).
Interact with the Sim to try and build up a friendship status. When you first meet a new Sim, interaction options will be limited. Use "Entertain" and then "Tell a Joke," or "Talk" and then "Share Interests," or "Chat"--at first. Fill up your queue with these interactions.
Monitor your Sim's interactions. You will see green plus signs when the Sims are getting along, or red minus signs when either Sim makes a social faux pas.
Move on to more intimate interactions as soon as they appear. Set up a full queue of interactions from the "Appreciate" menu, such as "Compliment Appearance."
Start using the "Flirt" option as soon as it appears. Choose options such as "Make Suggestion," but be prepared to back off if red minus signs start popping up.
Start using the "Hug" and "Kiss" options when you see two pink hearts appear over both Sims' heads. This indicates infatuation.
Take a break after you achieve a solid red heart, which indicates love. By this point, your Sim will need to refill his motives and will probably have to go to work or class.
Call your Sim's new significant other the next day and choose "Invite Over" to bring her to your Sim's house or dormitory.
Select "Propose" and then "Stay the Night." If the Sim agrees, have your Sim lay in a bed (it must be a double or larger) and then select "Ask to Join" to bring the other Sim to the bed. Select "Cuddle" and then "Woo Hoo" to set off the fireworks.
Select "Propose" and then "Marriage" after the Sims wake up. If the Sim agrees, they will either immediately get married (if out of university) or get engaged (if still in university).
Marry your engaged Sims after they graduate from university. You can either use the interaction menu to immediately get married, or you can use your house's phone and select "Throw Party," followed by "Marriage Party"--to invite friends and family to witness the happy event.
