The Lexmark 5400 series offers all-in-one printers that allow you to print, copy and scan from a single machine. Lexmark 5400 printers tend not to recognise ink cartridges from third-party vendors such as Staples, Office Depot and OfficeMax. The ink levels do not go up even when the cartridge is totally filled. This process will help you reset the ink levels in Lexmark 5400 series all-in-one printers.

Click on the "Maintenance" tab located on the top bar of the program.

  3. 3

Choose the "Install a new printer cartridge" option.

  4. 4

Hit "Next" to launch "Print the Alignment page" window.

  5. 5

Hit the"Print" button. Check the ink levels on your Lexmark printer. It should now give you a correct reading. Repeat this process if it doesn't reset the ink levels.
