How to Decorate a Baby Basket

Updated November 21, 2016

Baby gift baskets provide the parents-to-be a gift that keeps on giving, as it includes a variety of items for caring for the baby. The items in the gift basket aren't the only gift; the lining, basket cover and decorations, as well as the basket itself, are all items the baby will use. Select various baby-related decorative items such as blankets, ribbon and washcloths for decorating the baby basket.

Line the inside of the basket with a baby towel or washcloths, and then fill the basket with the baby gifts or items. Place the larger and taller items in back with the smaller and shorter items toward the front of the basket.

Cover the outside of the basket with a fleece baby blanket by wrapping it around the basket and securing it with pastel safety pins to match the baby basket.

Wrap decorative wide-edged ribbon around the handle of the basket until the handle is completely covered and secure it with hot glue, double-sided tape or safety pins.

Pin ribbon bows, small stuffed baby toys and other items to the outside of the basket to add a decorative touch.

For a helpful gift basket idea, line the bottom of a large basket with diapers, cover with blanket lining and add baby items on top of it.
