Nearly all BlackBerry phones come with a built in camera. Although these phones don't necessarily take professional calibre pictures, you can take quick BlackBerry pictures of your kids, your friends or the interesting things you see on your daily travels. If you delete pictures from your BlackBerry device, there is no layman's way to retrieve them from the handset. Instead, you have to use your backup files to restore the pictures to your BlackBerry device.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Click the "Start" button on your computer and navigate to the BlackBerry folder in the programs list. Inside the BlackBerry folder, choose "BlackBerry Desktop Manager." Connect your BlackBerry device to the computer using the appropriate USB cable.

  2. 2

Click "Backup and Restore" on the main menu of the desktop manager. The next screen will be divided into the three columns. Click "Restore" on the bottom of the middle column.

  3. 3

Choose which backup file you would like to restore to your BlackBerry device. Each backup file will have a date on it. If the BlackBerry pictures in question were recently deleted, you can just choose the last backup file you saved. If you are looking to restore BlackBerry pictures that may have been deleted further back, you will have to choose the backup file based on what you think the deletion date may have been.

  4. 4

Read the next screen that advises you all of the information that will be replaced on your BlackBerry device. Click "Yes" to continue. Wait for the progress bar to finish.

Tips and warnings

  • To avoid having to restore your phone to retrieve deleted BlackBerry pictures, get in the habit of transferring your BlackBerry pictures from your handset to your computer every few days. Then you will only have to retrieve any missing BlackBerry pictures from your pictures folder on your computer
  • All of the user data on your phone will be restored to the state it was in at the time of your backup. If this is not OK with you, do not restore your BlackBerry device
