How to Use a Two-Way Mirror to Hide a TV

Updated February 21, 2017

When you're watching your television it's a very important part of your den or living room. If you're not watching it though, then your TV, even the shiniest and most expensive flat screen models, are nothing but a big, dark accessory on your wall. However, there is a way that you can still enjoy your television and at the same time keep it hidden when it's not being used. Cover the television with a decorative, two-way mirror.

Measure your flat screen television with a tape measure. You need to measure the depth, width and height to be sure that the hole is the proper size.

Mark the edges of the hole on your wall and cut out the area you need for your television. Make sure that you install the brackets into the studs behind the wall so that your television will be properly supported and held in place once it's inside the hole in the wall.

Hang the two-way mirror over your television screen. Drill a screw into the wall, or alternatively put in nails, and hang the two-way mirror over the television just as you would a normal mirror. When you turn the television on you'll be able to watch through the mirror and when the television is off the mirror will function like a normal mirror.
