Blood plasma is full of protein that is used to create life-saving therapies for individuals who are chronically ill. The protein in the plasma helps the blood to clot and also helps the body to fight off infection. If the person needing the plasma does not have access to it, his chances for survival are minimal. Because the medical industry relies on the plasma to save lives that cannot be saved with whole blood donations, you are paid to donate your plasma. If you give plasma twice per week, you can make a few hundred dollars each month.

  1. 1

Ensure that you meet the minimum age and weight requirements. To be considered as a blood plasma donor, you must be at least 18 years of age, and your weight must be at least 50 kg (110 pounds).

  2. 2

Follow a consistent nutrition plan that is high in protein and iron.

  3. 3

Contact a blood plasma donation clinic in your area to see how much money the particular clinic will pay you for the donation. Each clinic's pay structure is different. The average amount of pay ranges from $20 to $50 per donation. In most cases, you can donate plasma twice per week.

  4. 4

Drink plenty of water during the 24-hour period before you attend the clinic. During this time period, avoid all caffeinated beverages.

  5. 5

Visit the clinic. Participate in an interview with the blood plasma representative. You will be asked questions about your medical history as well as the medical history of your family.

  6. 6

Undergo a physical examination. This examination will be conducted inside the clinic. During the examination process, you will be tested for diseases such as syphilis, HIV and hepatitis. Your protein and iron levels will also be tested.

  7. 7

Allow the representative to draw blood from your arm with a needle. After the representative draws the blood from your arm, she will remove some of the plasma from the blood.

  8. 8

Receive your pay for the donation.
