The cabin filter on a Kia Rio is a small filter located just above the glove box on the passenger side of the dash. The cabin filter works in conjunction with the heating and air conditioning system on your Rio. When the outside air intakes are closed air is circulated through the passenger cabin and cleaned by the cabin filter. This helps to reduce airborne irritants such as pollen or cigarette smoke.

Instructions

  1. 1

Open the glove box and empty out its contents.

  4. 4

Place the new cabin filter into position. Be sure to install the new filter in the same direction as the old one.

  5. 5

Lift the glove box up to re-engage the retaining tabs.

  6. 6

    Refill the glove box.

Tips and warnings

  • Shine a light through the old filter. If light passes through, it is OK to reuse. If the filter looks clogged and no light can pass through, it must be replaced.
