How to Make Birthday Invitations for Twins
Birthday invitations for twins (Invitations by Natasha Lawrence)

When it's birthday time for twins, repeating the same thing twice on a party invitation adds a little interest to what could otherwise be an ordinary invitation. Using a computer and free birthday clip art, create personalised invitations that are postcards with a magnetic strip on the back---to stick on the refrigerator as a handy reminder.

  1. 1

On the computer in a word-processing program, type in bold font on the top, left of the page: You are invited to a Birthday Party! Birthday Party! for (names of twins) (names of twins) (insert birthday clip art) (date and time) (date and time) (place of party) RSVP (telephone number)

The font (lettering style) can be different colours and the names of the twins can be in all capital letters. Center the wording by placing the cursor to the left of the first letter of each line and hitting the space bar until the invitation is centred.

  2. 2

Just above the twins' names, insert a free birthday themed clip art. Resize if necessary by clicking on the image, then putting the cursor at the corner of the image and holding it down, moving it up and down diagonally to make the image larger or smaller. Align the image so it is centred in the invitation by putting the cursor to the left of the image and hitting the space bar to move it to the right. The overall size of the wording will be approximately 3 inches by 4 inches.

  3. 3

Copy the entire invitation by clicking the mouse on the left button, holding the cursor down and blocking all the wording and image in the invitation. Release the left mouse button. Put the cursor below the top invitation, click the right mouse button and click on "Paste." Copy and paste the invitation on the page until it is full. Print the page on the printer. Print as many pages as are necessary to make the number of invitations for the twins' party.

  4. 4

Cut the invitations on each printed sheet on the paper cutter into 3-inch-by 4-inch rectangles.

  5. 5

Cut the decorative card stock paper into 4-inch-by 5-inch rectangles. Cut as many as necessary for each invitation printed for the twins' birthday party.

  6. 6

Apply strips of double-sided tape on the back of the printed invitation. Flip it over and press it onto the front of the decorative card stock, centred. Do this with each twins' birthday party invitation.

  7. 7

Cut 1-inch strips of 1/2-inch peel and stick magnetic tape. Peel the backing off and press the sticky side to the back of the completed twins' birthday party invitations (the decorative card stock back). Slip each invitation into an 4-by-5-inch envelope, address and mail, or distribute individually.

Tips and warnings

  • Used assorted decorative card stock paper, if desired, to make the invitations more interesting. The twins can participate in creating their birthday party invitations.
  • An adult should use the paper cutter.
