Updated February 21, 2017

If you want to use your RCA universal remote control on your Samsung television but can't find the instructions or code book on how to program it, this page will guide you how to do it. It includes information on how to program RCA remotes that have code search button and ones that do not.

Turn on your Samsung television.

Press and hold the "Code Search" button until the indicator light comes on. Release the button.

Press and release the "TV" button on the remote for the device. The indicator light should blink once and then stay lit.

Enter in one of the following three digit codes: 004, 005, 006, 011, 012, 013, 014, 015, 017, 019, 027, 036, 037, 077, 082, 104, 105, 106, 171, 172, 196, 201 or 204. If done correctly, the indicator light will turn off. If the light flashes rapidly, it indicates that you typed in an invalid code. You will need to go back to Step 2 and try again.

Press the "On-Off" button while pointing the remote at the TV. If your Samsung TV turns off, you have found the right code. If not, go back to Step 2 and repeat the process with a different code.

Turn on your Samsung TV.

Press and hold the "TV" button. Do not release it. The "On-Off" button should light up and stay on.

You should still be holding the "TV" button. Once you enter the first number, the "On-Off" button on your remote will no longer be illuminated. The light will turn back on once you have entered the fourth key.

Release the "TV" button. The "On-Off" button should go dark. If it blinks four times, then return to Step 1

Test your remote by turning off your television. If your television does not turn off, go back to Step 1 and try again using a different code.

Continue testing other functions on your remote. If one or more functions do not work, you may want to go back to Step 1 and try again with a different code.
