It is not safe to send cash through the mail anymore, so you must resort to other methods. One way to send money is to order a Visa gift card online and send that along. What's great about Visa is that it is accepted just about everywhere. That makes the card as good as cash at most stores, restaurants and hotels.

Instructions

  1. 1

Turn on your computer and connect to the Internet. Head to GiftCards.com.

  2. 2

Click buy gift cards and choose personalised or corporate. There are eight design choices for your choosing. They have themes based on reasons you would want to send a gift card. For instance, there is a snowman, a birthday cake with candles and a design full of hearts. There are also plain ones available and those with simple designs. Click the one you want, indicate how many you want in the drop box, and press "Add to cart."

  3. 3

Sign in with your e-mail address or password. If you are new to the site, then you will have to create one. All you have to provide is your name, e-mail address and a new password.

  4. 4

Fill out your recipient's name and the amount you want to add to your cards. Click "Next step."

  5. 5

Personalise the card by adding a message from the list of suggested messages or by writing your own message. You can also add a greeting or a carrier message.

  6. 6

Pay for the card. Either pay with your own credit card or use the "eBill me" system. Once you have made your choice, you will receive a form to fill out the rest of the needed information, which should be your address and the recipient's address, the payment information and, finally, the recipient's phone number, which is used to activate the card upon receipt. Click "Submit."

Tips and warnings

  • Your friend or family member should receive the card in seven to 10 business days, although the sites says the cards are shipped the next day.
  • There is a maximum £1,950 limit for each card and you can only purchase up to 10 cards at a time.
