If you've achieved something particularly remarkable on one or your HTC Desire's smartphone apps that you'd like to record for posterity or want to capture a grab of your phone's display for a work or school presentation, you'll need to know how to take a sceenshot. In its wisdom, HTC doesn't tell users how to take a screenshot of their display in the Desire's user guide, despite the fact the process could hardly be simpler.

  1. 1

Swipe your Desire's screen and enter any security password, code or pattern you've set on your handset. Then navigate to the app, file or operating system page you want to take a snap of. If necessary, maximise the item you want to record.

  2. 2

Hold down the "Power" button at the top of your device and press the "Home" symbol at the bottom of its screen. Your handset's screen will flash and you'll hear a camera shutter sound to signal a screenshot has been taken. The resultant image will be stored in your phone's gallery.

  3. 3

Tap the "Apps" icon on your phone's home screen and navigate to your gallery. Open your gallery to view the screen shot you've just taken. Click "Share," and then select your screenshot to send it as picture message or email or upload it to a cloud storage service.

Tips and warnings

  • Download the HTC Sync Manager to your PC. You'll then be able to hook your Desire up to your computer and save your screenshot on your hard drive.
