Nero 9 Registration Screen Removal
Uninstalling and reinstalling Nero may be necessary before the registration screen will go away. (computer image by blaine stiger from Fotolia.com)

Under normal circumstances, the Nero 9 registration screen should disappear as soon as a user enters a registration key. In some cases, though, users have a problem with the screen continuing to appear. It may be necessary to remove all Nero software and do a clean install to get rid of the registration screen.

Uninstall

Uninstall older versions of Nero before installing a new version. Problems can occur in some cases, though, even if there is no older version installed. The Nero CleanTool should remove all versions of Nero completely from the computer's system (see Resources).

Firewall

Nero recommends that users turn off any firewalls or virus detection software that may be running while installing Nero. These programs can cause a conflict and cause some components of Nero to not install properly.

File Name

If the problem persists, some users have found that renaming the nosusagestatistics.dll file stops the registration screen from popping up. Find the file at C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero8\OnlineServices and change its name to "nosusagestatistics2.dll."
