How to Write a Message for a Wife's Birthday

While not every man is a romantic poet or gifted with words, crafting a nice birthday message for your wife can be a wonderful way to show you love her. It's not the number of words you use, but your delivery and how well your message comes across. Even if you don't get your wife a gift, a note from the heart with your birthday wishes will be treasured by most women and remembered for many years. Instead of, or in addition to, the standard piece of jewellery or bouquet of flowers, consider writing your wife a birthday message.

Instructions

  1. 1

Make a general list of things you want to express to your wife on her birthday. For example, you may want to tell her how you're looking forward to spending more birthdays with her, how she gets more beautiful each year or how lucky you feel to be the one she gets to spend her birthdays with.

  2. 2

Think about your wife's personality -- no woman is the same, so there is no one way to write a birthday message for a wife. Her personality and demeanour will help set the tone for your message. For instance, your wife may have a dry sense of humour, not be very emotional, love romantic gestures or she may be the kind of person that is generally pleased with any amount of effort you make to show you care.

  3. 3

Come up with a way to send your message. Aside from the standard, handwritten letter, you can write your message inside of a birthday card, a note that can be stuck in her car or on the bathroom mirror, or send an e-mail or a text message, if your wife is constantly on the go. If you want, you can type or write the message on a piece of decorative paper and then place it in a nice frame for your wife.

  4. 4

Write down your message on a piece of scratch paper before sending it in an e-mail, text or writing it on the card or piece of paper you plan to give your wife. This will ensure that you don't waste paper or cards, or send an awkwardly worded message.

  5. 5

Avoid getting stuck on which words you use, and instead write down your genuine, heartfelt thoughts. If all you can think of to say to your wife is, "Happy Birthday! I love you and look forward to spending many more birthdays by your side," that will be more than sufficient, and very likely appreciated.
