There's nothing like a clean, smooth shave to put the finishing touch on a well-groomed, professional look. Which electric shaver is right for you? Let's compare the Panasonic ES-LA93-K with the Braun 790cc (the updated name for the Braun Pulsonic).

Wet or Dry

The Panasonic can be used wet or dry for the convenience of shaving in or out of the shower. The Braun can only be used dry.

Vibrating Technology

The head of the Braun vibrates laterally, causing the skin to ripple upward for a closer shave. The Braun also boasts a "Power Comb" that lifts hair to avoid missing spots on the face while shaving. According to a review by Popular Mechanics, "the Pulsonic pulls off a smoother, less painful shave."

The Panasonic promises its "subtle vibrations" will lift hair follicles and therefore allow the razors to shave as close to the skin as possible. Reviews of the Panasonic were unavailable.

Self-Cleaning

Both razors come with self-cleaning devices, which also recharge the shavers. The Braun Clean & Renew™ System also lubricates the shaver.

Number of Blades

The Panasonic has four blades; the Braun has three.

Other Specs

The Panasonic offers approximately 14 shaves from one full battery charge, at a rate of about three minutes per shave, or 42 minutes total shaving time. The Braun offers 50 minutes of cordless operation.

The Braun Series 7 (including the 790cc) was named Best Shave Tool by the Men's Health Grooming Awards 2009. According to the piece, the Braun Series 7 "easily whacks through 3-day stubble, thanks to the powerful 7-watt motor."

The Panasonic holds the Good Housekeeping Best Product seal. Since 1909, the Good Housekeeping Best Product seal has promoted the best quality products for consumers. The GHBP seal is also a warranty that if "any product that bears our Seal proves to be defective within two years from the date it was first sold to a consumer by an authorised retailer, we, Good Housekeeping, will replace the product or refund the purchase price. This policy covers you, the consumer, whether you bought the product or it was given to you (by the buyer)."
