Garmin produces a variety of global positioning system (GPS) units for use in finding directions. The Streetpilot c550 is primarily intended for use in cars, but is also portable so it can be taken on other trips or moved from one vehicle to another.
If your Garmin Streetpilot freezes or otherwise stops working, you may want to reset it so that the original factory settings can be restored.
Remove the front plate of the c550 by sliding your finger under the groove in the plate below the Garmin mark on the plate.
Push the now-exposed reset button. The reset button is located on the same side of the c550 as the power cable connector.
Plug the c550 into an external power source to restart the c550 after you have reset it. The factor default settings will be restored.

- Before resetting your c550, the Garmin owner's manual recommends that you first try holding the power button down to turn the c550 off and then turning it back on. If this works, you will not lose any changes or additions you've made to the factory defaults.
