How to Repair an Ethernet Port on a Laptop
The Ethernet port on your laptop is where the Ethernet networking cable connects in a wired connection. Occasionally, you may encounter issues with your Ethernet port. Note that if the port is broken, take your laptop to an authorised servicing centre.
However, there are certain troubleshooting techniques to follow if the issue is with the Ethernet drivers. Note that it requires administrative rights on your laptop to repair an Ethernet port.
Restart your computer. Sometimes a simple restart can help troubleshoot or fix Ethernet port issues.
Click the "Start" menu and type "Device Manager" (without the quotes) in the search box. Click to launch "Device Manager."
Scroll down the list of installed devices and locate the subheading "Network Adapters." Double-click to expand its content.
Right-click your Ethernet controller and choose "Properties."
Click the "Driver" tab.
Select the "Update Driver" button. Follow on-screen prompts to install the latest driver software for your Ethernet port.
Choose the "Power Management" tab. Click to remove the check next to "Allow This Computer to Turn off This Device to Save Power."
