Smoke detectors are used to warn people of a potential fire in their home. Having a working device can help keep your home and its occupants safe. Every couple of months, it's important to replace the battery to ensure that the smoke detector is in working condition. To do so, you will have to remove the device's cover, which is relatively easy.
Assess your smoke detector. On the cover there should an indicator on how to turn it, in order to remove the piece or reattach it.
Grasp the smoke detector cover and twist counterclockwise. Depending on the type of smoke detector you have, you might hear a click, indicating that the cover is detached from the smoke detector’s body.
Pull the smoke detector cover away from the device.
