Brinks is a home security company that specializes in the manufacture of many different types of locks and safes. As Brinks aims to give you the most secure way of storing items and securing areas, its locks (especially on its safes) can be somewhat tricky to navigate, especially if you are new to Brinks safes. However, you should always remember that if you really can't get a lock open, calling a locksmith will rectify the problem.
Fire Safes
All Brinks fire safes utilize a dual-lock system to keep your belongings safe. This means that to access the items stored inside, you not only need to know the combination to the safe, you also need to have the key. This is one of the most secure Brinks safes that you can buy, and naturally, therefore, one of the more complicated ones to open. To clear all the tumblers and reset your lock, spin it a couple of times and set it to zero. Give the dial four full clockwise turns and stop on the first number of your combination on the fifth turn. Then rotate the dial counter-clockwise twice and stop on the second number on the third turn. Rotate the dial clockwise past the third number once and stop on it the second time around. Finally, simply rotate the dial counter-clockwise to the fourth number. After this complicated process, you can then insert the key into the lock, unlock the safe and access your belongings.
Wall Safe
Brinks wall safes are usually electronic combination locks with a keypad. Unlike rotating combination locks, electronic locks operate a lock-out system if you key in the wrong combination too many times. Enter your combination code into the keypad and press A. If you got the combination right, a green LED light should light up and you will be able to pull on the handle to open the safe. If you get the combination wrong, a red LED light will light up. If you don't open the safe within five seconds of entering the correct combination, the lock will re-engage and you will need to re-enter the combination to access your belongings again. If you really forget your combination, you can use the emergency override function, which requires the emergency override key. Remove the lock cover, which should be located under the keypad, insert the override key and turn it to the left. This should open up your safe and allow you to reset your combination.
Key Safe
These are the most basic of the Brinks family of security items. They are usually used for storing small items like birth certificates, passports, credit cards and small personal firearms like handguns. Like a normal key lock, you simply insert the safe key into the keyhole that is located next to the handle. Turn the key clockwise until you hear the lock click and then turn the handle to open the safe.
