The igniter is the part of a gas range that contained inside a compartment called the "burner housing." Replace the igniter in a gas range with help from an appliance repair professional in this free video clip.
Hello, this is Tyler with Appliance Service by Paul. We're located in Salt Lake City, Utah. We're going to walk you through the proper steps of how to replace the igniter in you gas stove. Once you get the toe kick off of your gas range, you then have access to the burner housing which is where your igniter is attacked to so we need to remove a couple plates. We then need to remove the mounting bracket that holds the gas line to the burner housing and just move that out of the way and then we can remove the actual burner assembly itself which is where the igniter is attacked to. Okay once we have access to the burner housing we then have access to the screws to remove the igniter. Two screws, once those screws are removed you then have the actual oven igniter. Now, on most oven igniters, they are hardwired in. There are no plugs to unplug and plug back in so in order to replace it you get your wire cutters and you're just going to cut the wire, strip the wire back and rewire the new igniter back in. And then you just repeat the steps in reverse to put the new igniter back in. Again, this is Tyler with Appliance Service by Paul. We just walked you through the proper steps of how to replace the igniter in your gas stove.
