When decorating a wedding cake with edible flowers, the materials you'll need are fondant, a rolling pin, vodka, a baby sock full of cornstarch and flower cutters. Put edible flowers around a cake with the instructions of a professional pastry chef in this free video on decorating wedding cakes.
I'm Angela Jiles with Blue Note Bakery in Austin, Texas and this is how you decorate a wedding cake with edible flowers. The material you'll need are fondant, a rolling pin, vodka or Everclear, baby sock full of cornstarch and your flower cutters. First thing is you dust your surface with cornstarch and your fondant and you roll it out; making sure it doesn't stick in the table. Then we're going to cut them out; we're going to do two different colors of fondant; white and black; white. These are going to be for the centers. After you get your flowers cut out, you take your liquor; brush a little bit on the center of the largest flower; a little bit on the center of next size down and little one center there. And you just repeat this process for all the flowers that you want to make. Then you can curl up the edges, like kind of rolling them up; very carefully not to break off each petal. Take that liquor, paint the back of the flower; place it on top of the cake and then you can just add flowers wherever you want all over the cake to give it that finish look.
