Hello and welcome to Expert Village. I'm Phillip Toriello from the Avila Bay Athletic Club. Alright, freestyle sprinting. In freestyle sprinting there are two primary events that focus on the sprinting aspect; that includes the fifty meter and the hundred meter swims. These are full freestyle swims during which the swimmer is going as fast as they possibly can. This is a swim where really technique is important but not as important as getting to the finish line first. Your flutter kick is certainly going to be as fast as it can. Your stroke may be compromised in the reach aspect but you are going to have a higher turn over; you're going to have your arms are going to move much faster as opposed to that which you would use in your distance swimming (which would be a more calculated distance per stroke, slow recovery, strong reach, catch, pull, push under water).
