Sleeveless smock dresses are made from a lightweight material that is especially convenient in the warmer months. Smock dresses are dressed up with accessories like heels and glitzy jewellery for formal occasions or paired with flats and simple earrings for a more casual look. If you like the look of sleeveless smock dresses but prefer to show a little less skin, consider a few items to wear underneath.

Undershirts include items like a simple camisole for extra material for a lower cut smock dress. If the smock dress is cotton, use a camisole of the same material, so it appears as part of the dress as opposed to being a separate piece of clothing. For more formal occasions, use camisoles that contain a feminine lace design at the top. If you're looking for more coverage with your sleeveless smock dress, T-shirts are another option. Pair the smock dress with a simple floral designed short-sleeved shirt for a casual look. For a more formal appearance, use a fitted white or pearl coloured short-sleeved shirt and dress up with a pearl earring and necklace set and a pair of heels.

Leg Wear

Smock dresses come in various colours and sizes. They also come in various lengths from very short right down to a smock dress that hovers in the ankle area. If you own a shorter length dress but don't quite feel like showing a lot of leg, wear a pair of tights under the dress. Paired with either a high heel or a comfortable pair of flats, this versatile look is an option for a special dinner date or for casual Fridays at the office. The shorter smock can also be worn over a pair of jeans for a Saturday brunch with the girls. If you want to wear your longer sleeveless smock in the wintertime, wear a pair of pantyhose for extra warmth along with a sweater.

Smocks are designed to be comfortable. One of the advantages to the smock is that it hides little bumps and bulges on the body. However, if you're looking for a sleeker, sexier smock look, you may want to tie the waist with a belt so the dress forms to your body. This is where undergarments are handy. In order to smooth out the little imperfections, use tummy firming underwear or uplifting bras to eliminate the frumpy look. A girdle or tummy shaper will hold you in as you dance the night away.
